Sophie's Wedding - Flower diary

After finalising our wedding date and securing our venue, Matthew and I decided to look for a florist 6 months before the big day. Ellie was recommended to us through a friend and we phoned her for an informal chat to get an idea of cost and availability.

Ellie listened to our ideas and gave a brief outline of how we could best utilise the budget to get the most out of our flowers. Ellie suggested we spend the next few weeks thinking about what flowers we like and compile a scrapbook of ideas, flowers, colours and themes by ripping out pages from magazines. The next step was to arrange a consultation and we met four months before the wedding to discuss our ideas.

Ellie showed us her portfolio and we worked together to adapt our scrapbook into a realistic vision for our wedding day, taking into consideration seasonal availability, reception décor and my dress. A week after the meeting Ellie emailed over a break down of the flowers we had decided upon & gave a final costing.

Two weeks before the wedding we met up to make final adjustments and talk through such practicalities as ribbon colours and buttonhole numbers. The day before the wedding Ellie rang up to reassure us about the flowers and wish us luck for the day.

Our wedding flowers were fantastic and surpassed all our expectations, everyone commented on how beautiful the table arrangements looked and my bouquet complimented my dress perfectly in all the photos. I would certainly recommend Ellie to friends; she made a great day even more memorable.
